This is a crisis.

September 30, 2010

One gay teen killing himself and making national news is a tragedy. 4 in a week is absolutely terrifying. I’m sure some of you have been following the news: 13 year-old Asher in Texas, 15 year-old Billy in Indiana, 13 year-old Seth in California, and 18 year-old Tyler from Rutgers university. Their stories are different, […]

PROP 8 IS UNCONSTITUTIONAL, RULES JUDGE!!!

August 4, 2010

The battle with the homophobes is never over, and they’re going to certainly appeal this all the way up to the Supreme Court, but it’s a remarkable victory. We ARE  a force, and we are not fucking giving up! On this day, we toast to victory!! http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2010/08/04/proposition-8-overturned_n_670739.html

In New Orleans again.

July 25, 2010

Public Service Announcement: If you are ever in this city, you need to visit a place called Oz. Since the only gay clubs I had ever been to are in smaller cities, and tend to be dinky but still fun, a place like Oz on Bourbon Street which doesn’t close until 5 in the morning […]

Ah! Time’s flying!

July 5, 2010

Sorry! I really must update more often than once a week or once every five days. I’m working a lot, and writing a fair amount – I’m actually writing a book about gay men in a small city, tentatively titled “Things They Left in Autumn.” Young, college-aged gay guys deal with their families, their relationships […]

Further evidence, since it’s been called into question.

June 11, 2010

In this audio clip from an internet radio show, Mr. Dean does exactly what he has been accused of doing – calls gays criminal predators, insisting that each one has molested “on average” 117 people. Granted, in THIS clip he was located in Africa. However, would someone please explain to me the difference in praising […]

Day of Silence

April 15, 2010

Today is the Day of Silence, where students in high schools and colleges across the nation cease communicating between the hours of 7 AM and 7 PM.—Our silence represents the lack of communication about anti-LGBT bullying and bigotry. Many wear a visual signal, such as a T-shirt or duct tape, and carry around pre-written explanations so everybody knows to respect their silence.—So […]

Malaysia allows gay film characters…if they turn straight in the end.

March 22, 2010

Or, as an advocate for the change put it, “if good still triumphs over evil at the end of the movie.” And depictions of homosexual acts are still forbidden. So, by “allowing gay characters” in their movies, all that really means is its okay now for a character to say “I’m gay,” and then be […]

I think we’ll have nationwide gay marriage within 20 years.

March 17, 2010

If not nationwide, then damn close to it. What do you think? Several states have put amendments in their constitutions banning it, but federal rulings could overturn all of that, and the tide of public sentiment is coming our direction. Maybe I’m just optimistic today.

Another Count Candy Boy

March 13, 2010

I know, none shall top that beauty I ran across and posted in December (well, I’D like to top him anytime, if you know what I mean ;-p), who remains my most clicked-on post to this day, but this boy’s stunning as well.
